MEET THE BAND

Shreddy

Guitar & Backing Vocals

Hi, my name is Joe Girard, aka Shreddy. I was born and raised in a little town called Millbury, MA. I’ve been around music my whole life. At the wee age of 5, my father started teaching me the guitar.

By the time I was 12 years old, I had learned all that my father could teach me. It was right around this time that I heard "Eruption" and was floored, thinking, “How could anyone get that sound out of a guitar?!”

As a teenager, I spent many hours in my bedroom playing the guitar, trying to learn "Eruption" and everything Eddie Van Halen. At this time, I also took classical guitar lessons to broaden my knowledge of music. I’m also a Randy Rhoads fan.

Having been in various bands in the Worcester area throughout the 80s and 90s, my brothers and I started a band called Powerplay with our original vocalist John “Chief” Solomon in 1994. John left EWS in 2018.

I left the band in 2016 to pursue my love of playing Eddie Van Halen. I have the pleasure of playing Eddie for you all. It is my pleasure to give you that Van Halen fix!

Shreddy started EWS in 2016.

Bob Whitelock

Vocals

I have been singing rock seriously since I was 16, after years of choir in church as a kid. I was the only guy in the band who could handle the leads. I was the drummer and was soon convinced to front the band, and we added a new drummer. The rest is history. I had a roommate in the Air Force with two acoustic guitars who taught me some chords. I started writing my own songs shortly after that. I was in two standout bands in Boston, “Masterpiece,” featuring Joe Stump and David Rosenthal, and “The Lines,” who had some local airplay and toured all over New England and Bermuda. I love to write and became interested in country music as well, and produced a few albums.

How I joined EWS: I’ve always loved the music of early Van Halen and really enjoy playing the role of David Lee Roth. This gig found me through a friend, and I wasn’t looking to be in a tribute band, but once I started learning the material, I began to think ahead to the actual stage show. The more the band got tight, the more I absorbed and watched videos of early Van Halen concerts. Applying DLR’s moves, mannerisms, and vocal style has been a challenge. David Lee Roth was a character for sure—it’s so much fun! People love Van Halen, and EWS takes them back to their youth and those great memories we all have. It’s a privilege to be part of this great show and bring this excitement to our fans.

Bob joined EWS in 2019
